"What's the matter?" Jay waited for me. He looked pretty damn good. I kind of wanted people to think we might be together.
"Aren't you afraid what people might think?" We walked toward home. I've got like 15 minutes to spare before I have to get to my shift.
"Afraid of what?" He winced, but he's smiling.
God, he is in love with my Mom. I think I'm sick. Really and truly. The whole day has been sick. I so want to call in that I'm sick, but I can't. I've missed days. So we hurry. I grabbed an apple to eat. I don't even care what my hair looks like. I feel all sweaty and awful. And I can't talk to Jay. I don't want to. He's really spoiling my day, but then I meet Ren out in the hallway.
"How was it today?" He's Mr. Sunshine. I pressed my lips tight. And I'm on my way. But he came after me as if we must talk. Now. "Hold up." He took my hand. And for a moment I'm still. Completely. I looked back at him wishing I didn't feel the misery of school. "You're not mad at me, are you?" His face tensed and suddenly I feel this ray of sunshine. I have to smile. I have to. He's so different from anyone I've ever met.
Of course, I had to kiss him. I didn't really care who saw us. Maybe I didn't want to hide this. Finally. The time. I am so late.
"I'll see you around 8 then. At the coffee shop." His smile is something to hang on too.
Next thing I know I'm pouring coffee, taking orders for sandwiches. Its like school never happened. Well, I'll forget about it for a little, but of course, there is homework to think about.

Gosh, hope things get better, esp. with beginning of new school year.
She's still got Ren.
I think she'll be OK. Somehow.
I think she needs time to relax.
Its hard being a girl.
aw, I feel for her. I wouldn't be able to go into work after a day like that.
