a really big mess

I had barely gotten home just to find my Mom had made dinner for someone. Jay. The engagement chicken had been roasting in the oven. It smelled divine. It awoke my senses.

"No, tell me you didn't?" I looked at her seriously.

"Why wouldn't I? He's been bugging me all week about it." She was mashing potatoes.

"It could be your worse mistake, Mom." I don't know why I said it. I blurted it, without thinking. What if it worked? Something about the juices giving you cravings and everything was pure sex then. And..and.."Mom, you should dump the chicken."

"Are you crazy!" She snapped.

I wanted to grab that beautiful hot chicken and dump it out of the window, but as I said it was painfully hot.

"Please, you might regret feeding him this. Isn't he interested in someone?" I tensed.

"I guess." She shrugged, going back to fix the finishing touches on dinner.

"Well, who is it?" I squinted.

"I dunno." She squinted back.

"God, Mom, you don't even know him." I hugged myself.

"Its just dinner." What could be the harm in that? I just glared at her as she was putting the mashed potatoes in the casserole dish left over from her own wedding with Dad which ended in divorce only three months ago. It just seemed wrong that she was using it now. "Don't you have anything to do?"

"Like what?" I gave her and ugly look.

"I dunno. Sasha, perhaps?" Her mom suggested.

"She has a new boyfriend." I was history at the moment. But as I walked back to my room, I got it. She really did want me out of the apartment. What was I gonna do?
